‘Back Draft’

The BBC reports today that young conscripts in the Russian army are being pressed into service as male prostitutes. That’s the Beeb’s wording, not mine. My read on the story is that they are being forced to work as sex slaves, not so much as actual prostitutes. That said, in an even more egregious distortion the report goes on to say that ‘older servicemen’ are procuring clients and keeping the money for themselves… and yet the word ‘pimp’ never appears.

WTF?

There’s been a lot of ink since 9/11 about the BBC’s hyper-liberal bias and tendency to distort facts in favor of the bad guys. When the distortion becomes this visible at a glance, and on a story that should be pretty easy to get right, one has to wonder.
