Part 10 of a Series

The next installment concerning the abuse of the secret PSEN blacklists is going to take a bit more time. I have voluminous amounts of background material to sift through — and sift through I must, as there is far too much of it to present here in its entirety. So, in order to tide you over until that work is done, I thought it would be a good time to address the question, “Who are these people?”

Not long ago, PSEN founder and moderator Alyssa Delora claimed membership of “200+ members“. By my count, there are actually 184. However, only 94 of those have been active at all in 2007, and some surprisingly big names are members but haven’t visited in the last 90 days or so. So, we have a little less than a hundred providers (not all in Seattle, mind you) who aid, abet and support the organized blackmail and terror tactics that go on in the private girls’ room.

It would be ludicrous and unfair to suggest that all 100 of the active members are worthy of the same level of contempt, though. Most — maybe even all — of these providers joined because they are concerned about safety or because they are genuinely interested in community fellowship. It has been my observation over the last couple of months that only a small handful are truly part of the inner circle.

It is easy to identify those who ought to be pointed out. They are the ones who complained the loudest, and fought the hardest, even as the faulty and dishonest practices of their leadership were being exposed. Here they are:

This is the core group of bad actors. These ‘ladies’ think it is OK to ‘out’ you among themselves, and share your personal information freely with all “200+ members” of their group.

They think it’s A-OK to brand you as a rapist and circulate your name, home address and phone number along with that accusation.

They think it’s A-OK to encourage their peers to stiff you if you write a bad review.

Every woman on this list will sneer at the mere suggestion that anyone in their little club might be lying or may have made a mistake. In their world, the female is always right… no matter what.

And they get downright nasty if anyone challenges them on this stuff. Now why do you suppose that is?

NOTE TO COMMENTERS: Due to the controversial nature of this material, and also due to the absence of accountability that providers have enjoyed (up until now) while engaged in the creation of this material, I will NOT approve anonymous comments that are negative in character. If you have something nasty to say, fine… get in line. But be prepared to put your name, email and/or website address along with your words.

Tool

February 2, 2007

Seattle’s KIRO-TV reports that Paradise Tanning in Everett was taken down today. This is unusual, to my mind, because AMP busts go down all the time but the stories are normally the province of the daily newspapers, and usually buried deep in the local news section, at that.

So, why would one of the local network affiliates spend scarce news minutes on this? Slow news day, perhaps? Mmm, perhaps… but I see something else. It’s the novelty. This wasn’t a massage parlor, it was a tanning salon. That’s not your usual front for a brothel. To top it off, lots and lots of people — including Joe Sixpack’s school-aged daughters — go to tanning salons. It gives the story a certain shock value that your garden-variety AMP is lacking.

Meanwhile, this was also big news at TNAR. It would seem that a number of TNAR pooners have been to Paradise Tanning — a quick search revealed no fewer than nine reviews of Paradise providers submitted in the last six months. No fewer than five of those reviews mention the name ‘Paradise’ or ‘Paradise Tanning’ in the subject line, and one subject line even says ‘on Evergreen‘.

Say, how do you suppose that LE found out about this place, anyway?

outing vs. Outing

February 2, 2007

There’s been lots of buzz lately about the ‘outing’ of people (gee, I can’t imagine how that got started), and now there is discussion of how this supposed transgression should be dealt with, either by the ‘community’ at large or by the aggrieved individuals in particular. I find it rather amusing, on one level, because most of the noise being made centers around the notion that someone has improperly appointed themselves as the ‘hobby police’ — and of course those hollering the loudest are, in fact and deed, none other than the de facto, self-appointed hobby police.

But what is even more amusing — or disappointing… or infuriating… depending on your point of view — is that those doing the whining are unable or unwilling to differentiate between the outing of a hobby identity and the outing of a real life person. This is disingenuous, at best. These are, ostensibly, bright and articulate people we are talking about, and the intentional blurring of this distinction has gone beyond mere willful ignorance and has now reached the point of a dishonest attempt to manipulate the opinions of uninvolved bystanders. Short version: she’s lying to you, folks. Don’t be fooled.

Let’s define that distinction that I just made, so that even the sheep-men who make up the most vocal portion of the message board membership can understand. When I say ‘outing a hobby identity’, I mean that someone has been identified as being a particular online persona. That’s as far as it goes — someone is fingered by their TNAR or TRB handle and/or by an email address. Nobody’s “life is ruined” by this, unless of course they have been colossally stupid about what information they have made publicly available that can be associated with that persona. What can be ruined is an online reputation, which is not nearly as valuable — and not nearly so hard to rebuild — as a person’s real life reputation. Outing a hobby identity is, quite frankly, little more than a nuisance.

Unless you are a provider, that is. Because a provider’s online identity represents her means of doing business, having a provider’s online persona exposed as a wrongdoer is somewhat more than just a nuisance. And rightfully so. Providers routinely capture far, FAR more personal information than hobbyists — about their clients and about other providers — and the misuse of that information can have devastating results, both to the real lives of hobbyists and to the businesses of competing providers. So it follows that a provider should guard her reputation more carefully, because people don’t appreciate having their real life personal information abused.

Thus, it’s easy to see the reason for the curtain of secrecy surrounding the ladies’ back channel, along with the outrage at having that curtain lifted to expose the ladies’ malfeasance. And, thus also the cynical attempts to style themselves as the injured parties. I’m not buying it, and you shouldn’t either.

In the news…

February 2, 2007

There’s an explosion of news related to prostitution this week, largely fueled by inconsequential Craigslist stings and the suicide death of a high-profile suspect just before trial (see previous post, below). Sifting through it all, I have uncovered these two items worthy of note:

In upstate New York’s Hudson valley, a political squabble has erupted between the mayor of Kingston, NY and the local D.A.’s office. It seems that Hizzoner the Mayor is displeased that arrestees without a prior criminal record are being allowed to plead down their charges. In the process of throwing his tantrum, he inadvertently hits the nail on the head.

Sottile said the police department takes pains to set up prostitution stings. “We use all these resources and have a successful sting and then watch these people walk away with a slap on the wrist,” he said.

Yep, there ya go. It’s all a huge waste of time and money. Evidently, the Kingston P.D. has no other criminals to pursue. Time to lay off some excess officers, perhaps?

Meanwhile, in South Carolina, a crooked cop has kissed his law enforcement career goodbye in the wake of prostitution charges filed against him. Allegedly, Officer James Kirkley of the Horry County Police has been caught hobbying while on duty, according to charging information provided by a state-level investigating agency.

Officer Kirkley, a 15-year veteran who is married, faces the additional charge of ‘Misconduct in Office’.

Perhaps the big surprise in this case is the revelation that he actually paid for services.
