Every so often, the cops will take down one of the local escort services, which is usually good for two or three days worth of ink in the local papers (which is, of course, the primary motivation for doing it).

Inevitably — usually as a follow-up item a day or so after the bust is announced — word gets out that police have seized the client list. This revelation is often accompanied by a ‘you know who you are, and you will be hearing from us’ statement. Indeed, following the recent Spokane sting, police even had the unmitigated chutzpah to suggest that “it might be better for clients to contact them before detectives contacted those clients.”

Of course, this is nothing less than a steaming crock of horseshit. Nothing has ever come of being found on an escort service’s client list — and nothing ever will — because, quite simply, it isn’t actionable. Being on such a list is not a crime, nor is it court-usable evidence that a crime was committed. The police make these announcements because they want to scare people which, of course, is how a lot of police officers get their jollies. Unless you are a public figure, there is next to nothing to worry about.

Think about it, and consider this statement by sheriff department spokesman John Urquhart immediately following the high-profile Garden of Eden bust in 2003:

John Urquhart, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, said police lack resources to go after all the escort, massage and entertainment businesses. And he said the public tolerates that kind of prostitution more than streetwalkers.

“We have to prioritize what we do,” Urquhart said. “We don’t have the resources, the money and bodies to go after every single crime.”

So, if they don’t have the time and money to go after the escort services, then for damn sure they don’t have time and money to go after the guys on a list of johns — no matter how many ominous-sounding threats they make. I got a real kick out of this one:

…If your name is in their black book, you should expect a visit from a detective, and perhaps criminal charges as well.”

No customers have been charged in the case. The Sheriff’s Office is “still going through the trick book,” said department spokesman Sgt. John Urquhart. He said letters have been sent to people on the list, informing them their name came up in an escort-service investigation and asking them to contact the sheriff. He said they’ve had some responses from lawyers representing people on the list.

But of course, the contents of these “responses from lawyers” wasn’t mentioned, because you can’t print ‘go fuck yourself’ in a family newspaper.

They’re treating it as if someone had just invented fire or something.

From Milwaukee’s TMJ4 TV:

“Men Log On To “Rate” Prostitutes”

…The site has close to 4,000 members who grade prostitutes in Southeastern Wisconsin on their looks, their attitude, and their sexual performance.

Rachelle from Sheboygan is one of more than 50 women in the Milwaukee area reviewed on Heaven-Or-Hell. Besides her phone number and physical description, the review describes exactly what she will and won’t do in bed.

Let’s pass the hat and pony up enough money to buy some clues for the ‘old media’ dinosaurs, shall we?

Liquid Slime

February 27, 2007

Many years ago, the word ‘pimp’ was an obscenity, not to be uttered in polite company. Today, it’s part of the trendy slang lexicon of ignorant youth who have only the vaguest of notions about the word’s actual connotations. And that includes a great many — otherwise bright — young females who would blanch at the suggestion that women are subhumans who should be treated like property.

How could this happen? One word: hip-hop. A pox on our land if ever there was one, but that’s a matter for another blog on another day. But, in a nutshell, that’s the short answer. Hip-hop culture, among it’s vast array of offenses against our people in general and our youth in particular, has conceived and relentlessly promoted the idea that anything and everything having to do with pimps is cool.

I’m pleased to tell you that I’m not the only one who is saying “Enough!” And it’s about goddam time, too.

If only some of the young women out there had a clue. Just one fucking clue. Because there are only two things that the rap thugs understand — money and pussy. Cut them off from one or the other, and they will fall in line pretty quickly. Are you listening, girls?

Bring ‘em on

There’s been lots and lots of ink over the last couple of years about human trafficking and the sexual enslavement of female immigrants. It’s a hot-button issue for the anti-freedom anti-prostitution camp, because it gives them something to point at while they insist that all prostitutes are victims, regardless of their circumstances.

But there’s just one little detail that they always neglect to mention about imported prostitutes: chances are, what they are doing is considered normal and acceptable in their home countries. Indeed, their own societies may very well consider immigration to the west in exchange for indentured prostitution to be a very good deal.

Consider the between-the-lines implications of this scholarly article (hat tip: HG), written to expose the vagaries of prostitution but inadvertently exposing the truth instead:

A survey compiled in the social and economic chaos of the 1990s revealed that Soviet women ranked prostitution eighth in a list of what they felt to be the top twenty most common employment positions in the USSR.[2] In the same year, a separate survey indicated that 60 per cent of high school girls in Moscow admitted that they would exchange sex for hard currency.

As the conservatives have stated so emphatically over the last year or so in the public debate regarding Hispanic immigration, this country depends on a steady flow of newcomers to fuel the economy and drive birth rates. But what they have overlooked is that opportunities for those first hitting the ground here are limited, and there is not an inexhaustible supply of convenience stores.

And now, my unanswered question is… where are all the Russian CL whores? With all of the Russian immigrants in this city, and with so many Russian and eastern European women admitting that prostitution is an acceptable career choice, it stands to reason that more of them should be working the circuit here.

Moonlighting

February 23, 2007

Here’s a story about a police officer who was originally looking to make a few extra bucks, and is now out of a job as a result. Perhaps the officer in the story should have stuck with ‘rent-a-cop’ duty to earn his mad money. Or, if he really had his heart set on web design, perhaps he should have been a little more selective about his clients.

I always thought you had to be at least minimally intelligent to be a cop. I guess the standards in Arizona are a little lower than in my own state.

The investigation began after a female Mesa police officer received more than 25 calls on her personal cell phone in late December and early January from people requesting to meet her in response to an advertisement for an escort, Sgt. Chuck Trapani said.

The officer had no idea what the callers were referring to and researched the Web site, which advertised for a well-known Mesa prostitute. The officer contacted the prostitute, who told her she didn’t maintain the Web site. The prostitute, whose name was not released, gave officer Beaulieu’s name.

You just can’t make shit like this up.

Sorry… I’ve been slackin’. But there’s an upside — after two or three days of light posting, we have a backlog of tasty prostitution news.

U.S. 11th Circuit Court Presents: Theatre of the Absurd

It’s one thing for judicial types to become disconnected from daily life, it’s quite another when they become disconnected from logic and common sense. In a ruling handed down last week (warning: PDF file) concerning a challenge to an Alabama law prohibiting the sale of… ahem… marital aids, the 11th Circuit equated the sale of such items to prostitution.

Yep, that’s where they wound up, as the court was twisting through all manner of contortions (which tends to happen whenever the law delves into the bedroom) to explain the difference between Lawrence v. Texas (a case concerning consensual sodomy) and Haggermaker v. Alabama (the case being decided, regarding Alabama’s law against the sale of sexual aids). Here’s a excerpt from the court’s decision:

However, while the statute at issue in Lawrence criminalized private sexual conduct, the statute at issue in this case forbids public, commercial activity. To the extent Lawrence rejects public morality as a legitimate government interest, it invalidates only those laws that target conduct that is both private and noncommercial.

It does not involve persons who might be injured or coerced or who are situated in relationships where consent might not easily be refused. It does not involve public conduct or prostitution. Unlike Lawrence, the activity regulated here is neither private nor noncommercial.

Hmm, OK. So, prostitution is not — and can not ever be — a private matter, or one where ‘consent might not easily be refused’? Who knew? (hat tip: Boing Boing)

Across the pond, a step backwards

In the wake of the Ipswich killings, authorities are looking at starting a ‘john school‘. Evidently, the bobbies haven’t gotten the memo regarding the efficacy of such tactics. I can sympathize, however, given the political pressure that must be in force to do something — anything — even if it’s wrong. You see, in England, when somebody starts killing hookers, people actually care.

Still, prostitution is legal there when done behind closed doors. So, eliminating streetwalkers isn’t so much a matter of drying up demand (which is the goal of john schools). Perhaps the problem could be better framed as a matter of ensuring an adequate supply of affordable housing.

A page from Vice’s playbook

Spending habits sure do change when one is paying with someone else’s money. Or, for that matter, when they don’t plan to spend any money at all. WCAV in Charlottesville, VA brings us this rare glimpse into the anatomy of a vice bust. Notable: the officer agrees to cough up the full asking price, even after the hooker preemptively offers a better deal.

POLICE: What about the whole sex thing, straight up?
PROSTITUTE: At least 40.
POLICE: At least 40?
PROSTITUTE: I would like to have $50 but if you can do 40 that would be okay.
POLICE: I think we can swing $50
PROSTITUTE: That would be great.

Funny how this wound up on TV news, when one considers that, had the shoe been on the other foot, a person could be arrested for taping a conversation with an undercover cop and sharing the recording.

Change in the weather?

February 21, 2007

Am I the only TNA user who has noticed that threads have been closed without explanation lately? It used to be that, nearly 100% of the time, whoever cut off a discussion would drop a note to let us all know why. Even if it was just a perfunctory “This is bullshit. Closing…”, at least people knew who did the deed and (supposedly) why.

But even if you caught that, I’ll bet you didn’t catch another unannounced change: TNA no longer has any moderators. No, they haven’t left… they are now all administrators. Lots of ramifications to that… few of them good.

Just something to keep in mind the next time that knew_guy claims that he doesn’t have the power to ban people.

Aloha

February 18, 2007

Well now, here’s a surprise. A small coalition of state lawmakers in Hawaii are taking a serious look at legalization.

Don’t expect any breakthroughs, though. At least not this year. A pair of bills are working their way through the committee process but are not expected to make it to the floor for a vote. That’s OK, this isn’t the sort of thing that is likely to pass the first time around anyway. These things take time, and this is not an issue that many politicians are likely to jump on without being certain of solid support from their constituents.

However, given that the economy in Hawaii is driven by tourism, it’s not so much of a long-shot as it would be in, oh, say… Utah.

So far the only naysayers are, predictably, the thought police vice detectives (who would be out of work if the bill passes). Oh, and of course the story has a token voice of dissent from the moralist camp:

These women should be helped out of their situation, but legitimizing them is not the answer, said Kelly Rosati, a spokeswoman for the Hawaii Catholic Church and executive director for the Hawaii Family Forum.

“Oftentimes, the point at which a woman is arrested is where help begins,” Rosati said. “This is exploitation, and the woman deserves to be helped out of this industry.”

Some day, I hope someone can explain that whole ‘we have to save them by putting them in jail’ argument. I just don’t get it.

Pwned

February 18, 2007

A coupla days ago, I blogged a bit about this story, an expose of the Craigslist prostitution scene by a local TV station in Salt Lake City. The story prominently features one of those anonymous, ‘in the shadows’ interviews with a prostitute, whose name was given as Eva. It occurred to me on the first read-through that we have an Eva up here in this neck of the woods, who also happens to have long, curly blond hair, just like the woman in the interview. I thought that maybe — just maybe — it could be the same woman, but the chances seemed too remote and there wasn’t an easy way to tie our Eva to the woman in the story.

It turns out that there is no need for sleuthing, now that Courtesan Eva of Portland has stepped forward to take credit.

You know folks… it’s one thing to be a whore. It’s another thing altogether to be an attention whore. Especially when being an attention whore also involves being a traitor.

(Notice that I didn’t use — and won’t be using — the word ‘courtesan’. Make no mistake about it, we are discussing a prostitute here.)

Had this been a story about prostitutes as victims of the system or victims of violent crime… I wouldn’t have an issue. Had this been a story about an effort to reform prostitution laws… I wouldn’t have an issue. Had this been almost anything other than a cheap-shot — a hit piece designed to stir up public outrage against the Hobby — I wouldn’t have an issue.

But that’s exactly what this was. It was nothing but an anti-hobby public awareness message, designed to generate outraged calls and letters to SLC’s police and politicians. The story said very little of substance, other than to tell the people of SLC that there is a ‘problem’. And clearly, Eva is all but giddy for having had a chance to help the Dark Side.

I can hear her now… “You mean I’ll be on TV? Really?!” Because clearly, that’s all that mattered to her — being the center of attention. Any resulting consequences for her peers in SLC were of no importance because, as she stated on TNA, she had already decided that she was leaving the area and not coming back.

Quite frankly, I’m amazed that she got through the interview without throwing in, “Oh, and by way… did I mention that I’m part of the 12% of all women who, uh… squirt?”

And now, she’s sooo full of herself that she thinks she’s going to write a book. You’re not going to write a book, sweetie… you’re not an author, you’re a hooker!

Me… DEAD? Really?

February 16, 2007

Recent reports of my demise are greatly exaggerated.

Not only am I still alive and kicking, but I also have eyes, ears — and friends — all over the place. Consider, for example, how I might have obtained the text of a certain TNA post from this morning that survived for all of 24 minutes before it was yanked. More on that below.

It seems that our dear friend and phoney-baloney porn producer wannabe, RIS, finally got wind that I had been doting on him and he, well… he had a hissy fit about it. Sorry, no link… but I do have the text of his post on-hand. And, I must say, it was awfully nice of him to confirm pretty much everything I’ve said about him so far.

Quoted from Seattle Discussions/’SCARFACE is dead….REALINTERNETSLUTS IS ALIVE!….lol

Although many of you on this board may THINK SF dead, dont be fooled. He is on this board. He has NUMEROUS handles and screenames that hide his identity. Technology is his business. Unfortunately for him, PORN has many more “TECHIE’S” than him. lol. He really has NO idea who is watching him.
The porn biz is a VERY lucrative business……and when you START digging into someones BUSINESS, sometimes you get bit. The right people have been informed to his “DIGGING”, and it will only be a matter of time before he halts his hateful spew.

Im not sure why SF was trying so hard to give my website a bad name, I never posted anything about him anywhere, even when he was a valid member.

Geezus, what as asshat. OK, so you didn’t post anything about me when I was still a CLRB member because, well… because you didn’t join until a week after I was banned. But, if you really are wondering why I’m picking on you, I’ll be happy to explain. It’s like this: you meet the criteria.

You are…

  • in Seattle
  • involved in some way with the online prostitution scene, and
  • a fraud

And that makes you a legitimate target, as far as I’m concerned. You may as well paint a bullseye on your ass, because if you match the criteria — and I am able to get you — I will. Nothing personal, dude (at least not in your case), it’s just business. It’s what I do.

And what about that thread that came and went so quickly? You know, it’s kinda funny… threads get closed all the time on TNA, but their contents are seldom tampered with. Now and then, the mods will edit out select snippets of personal information or other indiscretions. But I can’t think of another time when an entire topic was pulled — lock, stock and subject line.

Hmm, I wonder. Why do you ’spose they did that?

I may not be dead, but apparently I have become ‘he who must not be mentioned‘.

UPDATE: Anybody know what a ‘Google Bomb’ is? The bomb, in this case, has gone off.

The Jihad Continues

February 16, 2007

There are really only two possible explanations for this kind of reporting. Either the media is clueless, ignorant and out of touch; or they have an agenda. I’m having trouble figuring out which it is. It might be interesting, though, to know a little about the ownership of this TV station (KUTV in SLC), and whether or not they also just happen to own any print newspapers. That would explain a lot.

$3 bill, anyone?

February 16, 2007

Just a little follow-up to an earlier post.

In case anyone still has any doubt that RIS is a complete and total phony, here’s a little tidbit that I stumbled across on a site called xpeeps.com where he exposes himself as a liar. (It’s about halfway down the page, in the comments. Or just check out the image below.).

Keep in mind, this guy wants us all to think that he’s a big-time Internet porn producer with years of experience under his belt. Yeah, uh-huh.

Go check his review history at TNA. He claims to spend $2K per week on porn production. Looks to me like he spent $2K the week that his tax refund came in, so that he’d have something to whack-off with the other 51 weeks of the year.

Golly, so now all of a sudden — after two years — we are worried about routinely disclosing fixed brothel locations in provider reviews? Isn’t it great to know that our forum administrators are looking out for us?

Remember where you saw it first, folks. Oh, and Tek… no need to say ‘thanks’, it’s thanks enough just to know you are reading.

Part 13 of a Series

We’ve been told over and over that PSEN was founded to help protect all of Seattle’s providers. But isn’t it interesting that, with over 180 providers participating in PSEN, so many of the blacklist entries are attributable to a fairly small number of individuals? Here again we will see that the secret lists at PSEN have been turned into the private plaything of their steward. Because often, when someones gets their hands on a little bit of power, they tend to, you know… use it.

Date of Occurrence: 9/14/06

Multiple Complaints: No Call No Show/Time Waster/Shorts Donation

I had an expanded fbsm session with this guy for 2pm. I received a cancellation and asked him if he would like to visit me at 12pm instead. He told me he would send me an email at 10am to confirm. At 11:30 I write to him asking for the confirmation so I could schedule the rest of my day as I had three other clients wanting to see me yesterday. At 12:30pm, I wrote to him saying I did not appreciate the position he put me in. I had left a big time slot open for him and because of his lack of consideration, my day had been ruined.

People do not appreciate how much prep work I invest into my expanded fbsm. I rearrange furniture, prepare and sanitize my air mattress, customize their sessions with their favorite items which means I go shopping daily for each date. At 2:30pm he sends me an email saying there was an emergency with a co worker and he was at the hospital. Based on our prior email correspondence and the work screen I conducted, I don’t buy his explanation. I give no shows 24 hours to give me a plausible explanation on why they could not take a few minutes to send me an IM or email. He did not meet this requirement so on the list he goes.

his email is longhorntom@hotmail.com

Yes, this was posted by Alyssa. How can I tell? Let’s do a little experiment. Go to Google, and type in “expanded FBSM”, with the quotes around it. Go ahead, I’ll wait.

There, see what I’m saying? That phrase appears a total of 13 times on the entire Internet. Every single one of those occurrences was generated by our esteemed “Bellevue Geisha“. Satisfied? I am. In fact, I’d say that’s pretty damned conclusive.

OK, so this guy flaked. People have lives. People have jobs. Shit happens. Poor, pitiful, long-suffering Alyssa (who charges upwards of $200/hour) wound up with a vacant time slot at the beginning of her workday, and — oh my gawd! — her whole day is ruined. Can you imagine… she rearranged her furniture for nothing! Well then, there’s really only one thing to do, right? That’s right, Alyssa figures she’ll fix it so that this guy can’t get a date with any of her 184 disciples. That’ll teach ‘em.

NOTE TO COMMENTERS: Due to the controversial nature of this material, and also due to the absence of accountability that providers have enjoyed (up until now) while engaged in the creation of this material, I will NOT approve anonymous comments that are negative in character. If you have something nasty to say, fine… get in line. But be prepared to put your name, email and/or website address along with your words.

‘Back Draft’

February 14, 2007

The BBC reports today that young conscripts in the Russian army are being pressed into service as male prostitutes. That’s the Beeb’s wording, not mine. My read on the story is that they are being forced to work as sex slaves, not so much as actual prostitutes. That said, in an even more egregious distortion the report goes on to say that ‘older servicemen’ are procuring clients and keeping the money for themselves… and yet the word ‘pimp’ never appears.

WTF?

There’s been a lot of ink since 9/11 about the BBC’s hyper-liberal bias and tendency to distort facts in favor of the bad guys. When the distortion becomes this visible at a glance, and on a story that should be pretty easy to get right, one has to wonder.

Have a Cigar

February 14, 2007

I haven’t decided if it’s a he or a she yet (my old laptop was definitely female), but… isn’t it pretty?

This just in… the Bellingham Herald reports that three people have been arrested on prostitution-related charges stemming from an investigation of ads placed on Craigslist. Not a big sting, to be sure, but in a small market such as Bellingham, three arrests are probably equivalent to ten times that number in a market like metropolitan Seattle.

Notable features of this story: one arrestee accused of being a prostitute, whose full name was published, was pegged as a Seattle resident. Also, the story mentions that another arrestee will be charge with promoting prostitution in connection with a specific ad. Yes, evidently in Bellingham the police are actually ‘walking the talk’, by taking down a pimp instead of just blustering about how bad they are.

A Predictable Reaction

February 12, 2007

We have a bizarre bit of prostitution news this morning, courtesy of the Philadelphia Daily News. It seems that students at Cheyney University are all atwitter following the arrest of a prostitute by university police, who say that she was working at least two of the dorms on campus. The woman, age 36, told officers that she is HIV-positive after she was taken into custody. Concerned students wasted no time printing and passing out fliers to spread the gossip news.

Yes, that’s right… male college underclassmen were paying a woman, who is bordering on middle age, for sex. Female students, quite predictably, are outraged.

The girl, a resident of King Hall, said all the students in her dorm are taking advantage of the free testing.

“Safe sex is always the best sex,” the female student added. “I feel bad for everybody else though, especially for the females on campus with boyfriends who may have been creeping around – there is no way for them to know.”

Yep, that’s how it goes. There are hundreds or maybe even thousands of male students… one hooker gets busted… and everybody with a penis is declared guilty until proven innocent. How very, very… female.

Please pardon my French.

Do as I say, not as I do

February 11, 2007

Whoever said “you can take the girl out of the street but you can’t take the street out of the girl” must have know what they were talking about. WBAY-TV of Green Bay, WI reports that a woman picked up in a prostitution sting last week was none other than the founder of a Christian ministry targeted at newly released convicts.

Ann Schrader, 46, is herself an ex-convict who did time for ‘keeping a house of prostitution’ and drug charges before founding StretcherBearer Ministries in 2004. The unwritten subtext here is that, as an ex-con, she stands to suffer more severe consequences than your average hooker would. Although, it might be interesting to see if her ‘ministerial work’ carries any weight with the court at sentencing (assuming, of course, that she is convicted or pleads guilty).

Oh, and that sting she was caught up in? You guessed it… it was an ‘Internet sting’ (read: Craigslist).

Once upon a time — in a ‘past life’, so to speak — your good buddy Scarface was a pro photog. It was a sideline thing, it never superseded my primary career, but for a few years it was where I put nearly all of the time and energy that I didn’t expend at my day job. After dabbling in few different markets, such as senior portraits (boring and too cutthroat for my liking) and portfolio work for wannabe models (more fun but lacking profit potential), I finally settled on adult still work (hella fun and rather lucrative) as my niche. I became, in the nomenclature of the industry, a ‘primary producer’ of adult material.

Along the way, I moved through the many circles that make up a thriving underground society comprised of guys with cameras and the women who stand in front of them. It’s a world filled with many archetypes and modi operandi, some of which were common enough to warrant pejorative slang terms. If you think about it, it’s an inevitability… the combination of middle-aged guys with money and attractive young women willing (with the right coaxing) to shed their clothing is a rich breeding ground for scam artists.

So, having that background, when I read this post on my erstwhile favorite pooner board the other day, I said to myself, “Gee, that’s a familiar-sounding tune.” So, I did a little poking around because, well… because that’s what I do. And here’s what I found…

The username ‘RIS’ stands for ‘Real Internet Sluts‘, which is a website that used to be linked to this TNAR member’s profile. Taking a close look at this website, I discovered some interesting things. For instance, the site doesn’t appear to be in business at all. If you click on the ‘Instant Credit Card Access‘ button, you get an error which indicates an inactive (and perhaps never activated) account with CCBill. It is exactly the sort of thing you would see if someone were to build a website and register it with CCBill, and then never fully enter the business (don’t ask me how I know this) or, perhaps, fail to pass the scrutiny of CCBill’s 2257 compliance verification.

But there’s more. If you look around a little, you will find some internal pages which indicate that the site is operated by ‘Pacific Century Int’. Other pages show that Pacific Century is (ostensibly) located in, of all places, a small town on the Mediterranean island of Malta. Could there be a local presence? Well, maybe. A quick check of the Washington State business records database shows that there is, in fact, a Pacific Century Intl. Inc. registered to an address at a condominium in north Seattle. Alright, now that’s the sort of thing that I would expect to learn about the operator of a small potatoes adult website.

Except for one thing. RIS claims to produce his own material. For his sake, I hope that isn’t true. Have a look at the federally required ‘Custodian of Records‘ information at the website. Do you see any producers listed with a Seattle address? I don’t either. What I do see though, is the address for a different website, which in turn leads to another, and from that we can see that ‘Real Internet Sluts’ is actually part of a family of adult sites, all operated by Pacific Century, and which all sport the same list of well-known adult content providers — none of which happen to be some dude up in Seattle who might be pegged as the “adult website owner” that RIS claims to be.

So, I suppose it could be true that RIS operates six or seven adult sites… but for some reason only mentioned to us the ONE site that didn’t quite make it off the drawing board. And I suppose that the mysterious ‘Mr. Chang’ in Sliema, Malta might actually be Mr. RIS’s overseas minion. And I suppose that the kingpin of this far-flung international porn empire might even be a guy looking to employ providers from Seattle, because he isn’t satisfied with the products of industry workhorses like Tom Mayes and Matrix Content.

But is a guy who looks set to be the next Larry Flynt going to self-produce his content and not comply with federal laws while he’s doing it?

Just a little something for the ladies to think about before they ‘work’ with this guy.

Not With a 10-foot Pole

February 10, 2007

I’m not sure just how the info was leaked — or, more precisely, how it was leaked to this particular person — but a reader got wind of some plans that I once had. I was pretty sure that I would abandon this plan, but I wasn’t absolutely certain until it came up here on the blog. I guess I should thank that reader for making me think it over carefully, because now there is no question in my mind about the correct course of action.

So, I’m blogging about it because there was a question-and-answer in one of my comment threads the other day which, in turn, has prompted several curious emails from readers. I’ve made my own decision without any help, but since the information seems to be out there in the wild, I’ve decided to answer those queries publicly.

…I heard about your board/blog and am curious as to what plans you have to actually initiate an alternative?

Can we begin to focus more on future direction and less upon “the other board?”

You appear to have the technical background necessary to launch an alternative, I think we can slowly garner a following. What about it?

It’s a good question, which I sorta answered on the spot.

Very astute observation. In fact, I have an alternative board — complete with innovative features that Tek could only dream about — mostly tooled up and ready to go.

Why haven’t I launched it yet? Because I have decided that the legal ice under these boards is very, very thin. Quite frankly, I’m pretty fucking happy that I’m not Tek right now, and I can’t think of any good reason to go down that path.

February 07, 2007 1:01 PM

So… yeah. I registered a domain, and built a board — but stopped short of launching it. How come? I guess a more detailed answer is in order, especially since there are some readers out there who seem to think that it’s all fun and games. Hardly.

Ok, now follow along carefully…

RCW 9A.88.080
Promoting prostitution in the second degree

(1) A person is guilty of promoting prostitution in the second degree if he knowingly:

(a) Profits from prostitution; or

(b) Advances prostitution.

(2) Promoting prostitution in the second degree is a class C felony.

Note the phrase that I have emphasized. What does it mean? Look at this:

RCW 9A.88.060
Promoting prostitution — Definitions.

The following definitions are applicable in RCW 9A.88.070 through 9A.88.090:

(1) “Advances prostitution.” A person “advances prostitution” if, acting other than as a prostitute or as a customer thereof, he causes or aids a person to commit or engage in prostitution, procures or solicits customers for prostitution, provides persons or premises for prostitution purposes, operates or assists in the operation of a house of prostitution or a prostitution enterprise, or engages in any other conduct designed to institute, aid, or facilitate an act or enterprise of prostitution.

See that? Put these two RCWs together, and what you get is that any activity “designed to aid or facilitate” prostitution is a class C felony.

What’s that you say? You think this blog runs afoul of these laws? Guess again; I am exercising Constitutionally protected free speech here, and I “aid or facilitate” nothing. For instance, I don’t run advertisements for prostitutes, and I don’t provide email facilities for prospective clients to contact them. Almost any pooner board (that anyone would want to use), however, serves both of those functions.

And what’s more, there is a fairly recent Washington State Court of Appeals ruling that addresses (albeit tangentially) the Constitutional distinction that I’m talking about. In State v. Edward Hills (Washington Appellate Reports – 2005 to 2007 , Slip Opinions Part III, 50428-2-I), the court said, in relevant part,

Since statutes can only be overbroad if they sweep within their grasp constitutionally protected speech and since the Washington Supreme Court has held that the promotion of prostitution statutes do not prohibit any constitutionally protected speech,

therefore, speech which “aids or facilitates” is not protected, and is subject to prosecution under RCW 9A.88.080. Perhaps this theory could be disproven, but I think I’d rather let Lush, Tahoe Ted or Tek be the test case.

So, while hobbying is a misdemeanor — a calculated risk that many of us are willing to take — running a board is, quite arguably, a felony. And, tempted as I may be, I’m going to leave it to somebody else.

Part 12 of a Series

As I have explained in the past, the ladies of PSEN have two separate blacklists. The lesser of those lists, the PITA (Pain In The Ass) list, is basically just a negative recommendation against the hobbyists who are listed. In many cases, a provider may be willing to see a hobbyist who is on the PITA list if she has a hunch that he’s really OK.

The other list is the BCL (Bad Client List), which is (supposedly) for rapists, ROBs and STD-ridden drug addicts. Being listed on the BCL is PSEN’s version of a hobby ‘death penalty’, meaning that no provider in her right mind would knowingly see someone who is so listed. One would hope that all submissions to this list would be carefully vetted, so that only the worst of the worst are included.

Sadly, no.

Unfortunately, a hobbyist can find himself on the BCL for the flimsiest of reasons. Indeed, as I read through the list, deciding which items to trot out for display on which day and so on, it occurs to me that, more often than not, the decision to apply the ‘death penalty’ has been based on little more than circumstantial evidence.

Now, don’t get me wrong — circumstantial evidence can be very convincing. It can even be used in a court of law… IF twelve people can agree unanimously that it holds water. But at PSEN, things are done a little differently. At PSEN, ‘clear and convincing’ evidence amounts to a provider pointing her finger and at a hobbyist and saying ‘I had a bad feeling about him’. That’s all it takes to fix it so that the unsuspecting victim suddenly can’t set up a session anymore. And chances are, he’ll never know why.

Here’s today’s unlucky pooner:

Chris

Date of Occurrence: 12/28/06

Single Complaint: Potential ROB

206-[XXX]-1869

Chris scheduled a two hour appointment with me yesterday. He seemed very nice on the phone, polite, no bs, just on purpose.

He showed up on time and all seemed fine. He seems like a very nice guy. He took off his shoes and prepared to follow me. Then I asked him to place his donation in the donation box. That’s when the eye contact faltered and the “Ummm… I parked my car down the street. Is that okay?” started. When I said that was fine, he bailed.

He is a tall thin fellow with a strange haircut, dark brown hair. He either lives or works in the Skyway area.

No, I haven’t omitted anything. That’s it… that’s the whole thing. The guy decided to leave and didn’t bother to explain himself, and so now he’s branded a ‘ROB’. His name and phone number are on the Bad Client List, which all PSEN providers check before booking a session or giving a reference.

In other words, if Alyssa and her crew have their way, this guy is toast. If this was a PITA entry, I might be able to get there, but come on… the BCL? Does this seem fair? And what about those ‘complete investigations’ we were told about?

NOTE TO COMMENTERS: Due to the controversial nature of this material, and also due to the absence of accountability that providers have enjoyed (up until now) while engaged in the creation of this material, I will NOT approve anonymous comments that are negative in character. If you have something nasty to say, fine… get in line. But be prepared to put your name, email and/or website address along with your words.

Note to an Idiot

February 9, 2007

There has never been any shortage of ignorance and stupidity on the pooner boards. And, it seems that just about everyone there contributes to it at one time or another. After a while, one gets jaded — it becomes so ordinary, so expected, that it fails to surprise. Then again, sometimes it is surprising to see someone’s contribution go so far over their quota.

…But I’m going to discuss pimps. I don’t mean any guy who’s helping a lady, I mean a traditional American Pimp, a street pimp.

Many pimps are quite skilled at managing their ladies on the street. They train them well and the ladies benefit from that background.

The classic American Pimp has a lot of history, culture and “game” behind him, and it just doesn’t fit so well with escorting.

OK, now that I’ve cleaned up the coffee that I had to spit out to avoid choking on it, I’m going to tell you a thing or two about pimps. Because clearly, Mr. (or is it Ms.?) Casey, you don’t have the first fucking clue.

Let’s start here: the word ‘pimp’ should never, ever be afforded the dignity of capitalization. For that matter, the word doesn’t deserve to be in the same sentence with the word ‘classic’, let alone with the word ‘American’. Pimps have no culture or history — to suggest such a thing implies that they care about anyone or anything other than themselves. They do not.

Pimps are parasites. They use people… as in, use them up. They care about nothing, and I do mean nothing, other than separating you from your money and keeping their sorry, vermin asses out of jail.

The authorities insist that all prostitutes are victims, but the only true victims are those who are under the spell — or in the clutches — of a pimp. Pimps prey upon the vulnerable. They select their victims for their susceptibility, by finding women with weak family and social support systems. They then immediately and continuously work to prevent their escape, by separating their victims even further from whatever support they may have had.

The ‘game’ that you refer to is nothing more than maintaining control. They control when their victims eat, sleep and work. They control who they talk to. The victim is not allowed to be her own person, to have opinions or to think about her future. She is only allowed to do whatever is necessary to maximize the pimp’s income.

The pimp gains and maintains this control by lying. They will say whatever is necessary to keep their victims powerless and under their spell. They will tell the victim that she is a useless piece of shit, and that she is only worthy of sex work. They will tell the victim that she has no future that is worth considering.

The pimp will tell his victim that he loves her — even though she is not worthy of anyone’s love — and that there is nobody else in the world that would love her because she is ‘just a ho’. He will tell his victim that if she stays with him she will have money, an easy lifestyle, and notoriety.

But of course, none of those things ever materialize. The victims never acquire any of the things that are promised, because the pimp takes it all. It’s not unusual for a pimp to keep very close to 100% of a prostitute’s earnings, and grudgingly peel off $5 or $10 for her to eat as he puts the day’s earnings in his own pocket.

Sometimes, the Big Lie doesn’t get the job done, so the pimp will use another form of dependency — drugs. He will get his victim hooked on crack cocaine, or maybe methamphetamine, and then keep her in a strange place so that he will be her sole source of supply. And if the prostitute eventually becomes unmarketable because the addiction has sapped her health to the breaking point, he will discard her in a gutter somewhere, like so much trash.

To the pimp, the prostitute is a non-person… nothing more than a resource to be exploited. He will keep her working until she drops, sometimes for 10, 12 or 14 hours a day. When she menstruates, he will force her to stuff cotton balls or makeup sponges in her vagina, so that she can keep the money rolling in to him. And whenever he is in the mood, he will demand sex — usually without a condom. The prostitutes health and well-being is always subordinate to his cash flow.

There you go, Casey. There’s a snapshot of the ‘Classic American street pimp’ that you think is so fucking cool. Too bad you are totally ignorant of what they are all about. You don’t have to take my word for it, you can read up and do your homework here, here and here (warning: PDF file).

You choose to honor and respect them by ’speaking’ to them in your forum post, and for that you have earned my contempt. If the ladies out there have any sense, you will have earned their contempt, as well.

Traffic Report

February 8, 2007

The first 5000 took 47 days.
The next 5000 took 27 days.
The third 5000 took only 17 days.

No, I don’t expect to bring in 5000 more in another 7 days. Although that would be sweet…it’s out of reach, I’m afraid. No worries, I expect to hit 20K hits by the end of the month, and that suits me just fine. At the current rate of about 180 visitors per day (which is the minimum for slow days), I’ll hit that target without breaking a sweat.

The number of visitors that can be attributed directly to my original pool of readers — the members of TNAR/CLRB — continues to drop, now making up less than 8% of the total since my last post about blog traffic. However, I suspect that many of those folks still drop by but now rely on bookmarks (23%) to visit. That, and Google searches (a tick under 24%). Indeed, incoming Google searches for things like ‘Petulant Pooner’, ’scarface clrb’ and similarly descriptive terms all but dominate my referrer logs.

Oh, and I would be remiss if I didn’t mention all of the searches for ‘Alyssa DeLora’, ‘bellevue fbsm’, ‘alyssa reviews’, ‘alyssa trb’ and ‘425-214-2576′ (A Google Bomb can be a wonderful thing).

Part 11 of a Series

Today’s PSEN horror story has a moral. (OK, OK… ‘moral’ isn’t the best word to use. It’s a story that teaches a lesson, got it?) I’m going to depart from the usual convention, and not make you wait until the end of the story before I give it to you. Here it is, before the story even begins:

If you are going to write a review of a high-ranking PSEN provider, your review had better be good… or you had better lie… because if your review is anything less than fabulous, they are going to stick it to you.

And now, here’s the story. It’s a short one. The characters are Alyssa (the PSEN Queen Bee herself) and Bacara (same username on both TNAR and TRB). Bacara had a session with Alyssa, and he had the nerve to let us all know what he really thinks about her service. BIG mistake. Because, even though the review was thoughtful and objective, Alyssa didn’t like it. Can you see why?

In the end, how did my first FBSM experience measure up? I left very relaxed from a nice massage but missing the sensuality I’ve felt from my other GFE visits. I missed how connected I was on other dates. I liked the interactive symbiosis of pleasing and being pleased then. Plus, I like letting go and not having (real or perceived) restrictions.

So, did Alyssa do her FBSM job? I would have to say yes. Did I find her FBSM was for me? ‘Probably not. But, ‘great massage and nice pampering. I felt like a princess.

I submitted this review to Alyssa before posting and got a defensive lashing, scolding me for comparing FBSM to FS. I’d like to explain. While I don’t feel ripped off, I feel there could have been better passion. Everything else was in place but felt like a formula. Alyssa let me know this is FBSM and I can’t make that comparison. So, I did a little research online, since this was my first FBSM experience. The websites I read, describe FBSM as possibly being more intimate and sensual feeling than FS. That wasn’t my experience here.

Go read the whole thing. It’s not a slam, and it reads to me like a candid evaluation of her services. The guy wanted to try something new, figured out that it wasn’t for him, and he explained why.

So, what’s the problem? The ‘problem’ is that Alyssa doesn’t think she should have to put up with such nonsense, since she has the tools of retaliation at her disposal. Step one: put hobbyist on PITA list.

Steve “Bacara” from TRB

Date of Occurrence: 11/03/06

Multiple Complaints: Public Liar/Falsified Review/ Does not respect FBSM boundaries/Harrassed Provider for confidential information on a reference.

Please Note: He has seen an FBSM practitioner since with no reported problems.

Bacara is used to full service. He opted to see me for FBSM. He claimed to be satisfied and happy with his experience at the end of the session. He later complained that our session lacked passion and “instruction” The only things lacking from our session her kissing, fucking and DATY. I never advertised in a way to suggest these items were on the menu. I asked Steve why he didn’t speak up during our time together if he was unhappy. He must have foreseen I would ask him this publicly because he decided to fib in his review of me, claiming he asked me for instruction. His ATF who is also my close friend, did not care for his treatment of me. She decided not to see him. When another provider contacted her for a reference, she told her she would not see him anymore and she explained why. This provider decided to see him anyway. During their session, Steve harassed the provider asking what his ATF had to say about him. She told him that the ATF gave him a negative reference. Steve then decided to register with MEC to re-post his review of me and make it more negative than the original. Not only did he worsen his review and defame my character, he decided to lie about how he knew he had a negative reference against him. He posted that his ATF had sent him an email rubbing it in his face that she was giving him negative references. This lie was confirmed with the provider he harassed. A lynch mob was forming wanting Steve to out the name of his ATF so they could boycott her.

I doubt anyone will have a problem seeing this man from here on out. He has made a complete jack ass out of himself and I believe he has learned his lesson on being a manipulative liar. However, because this incident did happen to multiple girls: a review containing lies of me, a public smear attempt against the ATF, and harassing a third woman for information that is confidential and not a hobbyist’s concern, he goes on the PITA list.

We also see here the evidence of step two: get friends to stiff the review writer. After step two, it gets pretty messy. We have accusations of lying, harassment, more lying… just general drama.

Notice also how this has been turned into “Multiple Complaints”? Ahem… yeah. Multiple complaints from one provider, that is.

All of this for one, so-so review.

But, at least we do get treated to a bit of irony. Did anybody catch that part about how this guy “defamed” her character? Guys, I ask you… who is being defamed here?

More Old News

February 8, 2007

The mainstream media’s economically-motivated jihad against Craigslist continues, in all of its glorious absurdity. This time it is TMJ4-TV in Milwaukee, WI that is breathlessly reporting the five-year-old story of rampant prostitution advertising on — what must be by now — the world’s best-known sex marketplace.

As a rule, each one of these that I find is just a little bit more ridiculous than the one before, and this particular specimen is no exception. Check out this preposterous statement:

People can post classified ads on craigslist for anyone to see. TODAY’S TMJ4 found more than 100 ads for call girls in our area. They show photos, prices, even local phone numbers.

Police departments are on top of the problem.
(Emphasis added.)

Did you catch that? Oh, yes! The police are sooo all over this.

Sheee-it.

Sorry folks, this one slipped under my radar. Evidently, there was an agency bust in Spokane last week, and now everyone over in the Lilac City is a little jumpy. Including the operators of the nascent (and now, locked down) Spokane Board. One of the moderators, Darcy/Persephone, offers this explanation:

SB Members

Yesterday we recieved alot of calls form the ladies bout there safty on this board..so me and lush spent quite some time trying to figure out what to do to make all of them feel more comfortable and safe bout being on this board. It was decided that we would lock it to the general public and also we have deleted some of the more recent memberships dating back to when this whole mess started. Some of the ladies are wanting us to delete the gallery section but i do not feel that is relavant.

Once again i stress to the ladies if you wish to have EVERYTHING about you deleted from this board then fine we can do that for you but please note that once everything has settled down and you ask to be put back on the board or try to come back to the board it will be hard for you to do. we feel that what happens if 6 months or a year goes by and you get paranoid or flip out again? Now we have to go back and delete 1 years worth of posts and things that you have done on the board? That is a waste of time that we do not have. Not to mention if we go around deleting all of your posts in the process it will automaticly erase other peoples posts who either replyied to you or a thread you where involved in which is unfair to others. so think first and make an informed decision before contacting us and making a reuqest like that.

Be safe, and smart in your posts. this will blow over and you all will be able to take a deep breath and move on.

As we can see from the ongoing debate in the United Kingdom, particularly following the well-publicized Ipswitch case, decriminalization by itself is not the end of the discussion. Here are two examples: a story about the difficulty that prostitutes have in getting help from the police when they become crime victims; and a CBS News ‘Letter from London’ telling of the inconsistent, if not contradictory, approach towards prostitution by the British authorities.

From CBS:

In December, the plight of the streetwalker was brought into sharp focus when five were killed in the city of Ipswich over the course of ten days. All were drug addicts who felt forced to turn a trick to get the next hit. While the killer was on the lose, there was much soul searching about how so many young women were abandoned by society and left to ply their trade on the streets — and look what happens to them when they do: they’re killed.

When the Ipswich Ripper was at large, the police even paid the women to stay safe and take a break. But then there was an arrest, the killing stopped and that was the end of the intellectual and political discussion. All the chest-beating and introspection, discarded like yesterday’s fish and chips wrapping. And the prostitutes went back to work, just as before.

Clearly, common sense and respect for human rights have the upper hand in the U.K. But long-standing social stigmas are not eliminated overnight, nor can they be legislated out of existence.

Geezus Christ on a crutch! Talk about your security leaks!

Ladies, tell me… what would you be willing to pay for a CD-ROM with the names and telephone numbers of 90,000 potential clients? I would say that a measly $55 for that kind of information is a steal!

In December, street stalls with pirated CDs started selling a digital database of addresses, telephones, and personal details of high-ranking clients of Moscow prostitutes, along with police materials of high-profile criminal cases and tapped telephone conversations. The database contains details of some 90,000 individuals and has a price tag of 1,500 rubles ($55). At least 1,000 CDs with the database are said to have been released. Yet some experts have questioned the fact that the Moscow police may be the source of the leak. Many believe this might be a mere publicity stunt by pirates seeking to rev up sales of other databases containing private information of Russian citizens.

The Universal Language

February 5, 2007

Some things are pretty much the same no matter where in the world you go. Here’s an example: an account of truckers and lot lizards in, of all places, Uganda.

P.T. Barnum… MOVE OVER!

February 4, 2007

OK, maybe I was wrong. Maybe Tek doesn’t work for the government, after all. It could very well be that he’s with Halliburton. You know, Halliburton… that company that overcharges the government for, well, pretty much everything.

Or, given the utter lack of skepticism when presented with phony cost data, perhaps there is a high proportion of TNAR members who work for the Pentagon. Sure, that would be a bit more of a stretch than Tek as a professional chiseler, but hey… it squares up nicely with the facts.

Speaking of facts (you know, facts… those inconvenient little bits of information that sometimes get in the way of opinions) let’s look at some. We’ll start here, with the statement that was made to stir up our sympathy:

Tek wrote:
Network costs, domain registrations, and other related costs to run TNA REVIEWS are in the ballpark of $300 per month.

Ok, now let’s go shopping.

aplus.net $99 IndSoft $139
ValueWeb $99 ServerPronto $99
CalPop $125 lunarpages $99
SingleHop $119 Apollo Hosting $99

I could go on like this for a long, long time, but I think you get the idea and, besides, I didn’t want to spend more than a couple minutes on this. The point is, these are all dedicated server plans that come with at least 600GB of monthly bandwidth (many come with 1000 or even 2000GB) and somewhere between 50-500 times the amount of disk space than would actually be required to host TNAR.

And I’m having trouble figuring out that “related costs” bit. Does Tek want to charge us for his time now? Whatever it is, it isn’t for software. PunBB is a freebie, and the PHP and MySQL packages needed to run PunBB do not cost extra — in fact it’s getting hard to find a host that doesn’t offer them for free. Oh, and a domain costs exactly the same (around $8-12/year) whether you are hosted on a shared cluster or on a HAL9000.

Sure, I suppose you could pay $300… if you really wanted to. But why? Especially considering that a dedicated server was really not needed at all. Tek didn’t have a disk space problem or a bandwidth problem. He had a database problem — the previous MySQL database wasn’t configured correctly. If the old hosting company couldn’t or wouldn’t tweak things for him, all he really needed was a new host that would give him, say, 50 user connections instead of the 25 that he had before. You can find a hosting plan like that, all day long, for about $25/month.

So, what’s left to ask is… whatya gonna do with all that extra money, dude?

UPDATE: Heh.

I put in a request to increase the number of database connections from 25 to 50. The 5 minute down time was probably them changing the setting and restarting mysql. Let me know if it happens again.

Tek

OK, now lemme get this straight. Tek, you had a known issue: 25 user connections was not enough. So, instead of fixing that, you moved the whole shittin’ thing over to a dedicated server, where the maximum number of user connections is set to… 25?

Dude… are you smokin’ dope?

I really wish that Blogger would provide a means to add auxiliary, fixed pages — the way that WordPress does. (It turns out that WordPress is a superior tool in many ways, but… there’s no going back now.) If I could have posted a standing comment policy from the beginning, I would have done so.

Comments are something that bloggers struggle with, almost across the board. They are simultaneously both the fruit and the poison of one’s efforts. If your blog is really, really successful, you can turn them off and forget about them. But if your blog is just mildly to moderately successful, it’s best to leave comments enabled as a means to receive feedback from the readership. Naturally, comments will be both positive and negative in nature. Which is just fine — both types are valuable. Up to a point.

This blog, in particular, is a little different than most. I write about illegal activities here, and I also write about an industry upon which many of my readers (but not myself) depend for their livelihood. It’s an industry in major upheaval at the moment. An industry where the (nominal) anonymity of the participants is a constant. And also, it’s an industry chalk full of deleterious personalities — for instance… those who are mentally and/or emotionally unstable; those who are corrupt and predatory; and those who are sexually deviant. Mix these things all up together, and the result can be pretty fucking ugly. Distill that ugliness into a few sentences of anonymous choice words, and sometimes the result is garbage that I don’t particularly feel like publishing.

This situation has been exacerbated by the lack of a published comment policy, which would at least enable me to spell out the ground rules in advance, and allow me to say “Look, you should have known the rules before you bothered,” in reply to the nasty-grams that I sometimes get from those who feel slighted when their mental vomit isn’t published alongside my own carefully crafted prose. This is why I have included an ‘on-the-fly’ policy along with each segment of my ongoing PSEN series, which — for some reason — seems to generate the largest volume of word-poop.

But a blanket policy is still needed, and I don’t have a quick and easy way to put it out there, outside of a blog post like this one. So, here goes:

  • If your comment is positive in nature, no worries. I will publish it gladly. I don’t care if it’s anonymous or not.
  • If your comment is neutral or negative in nature — but polite and well-reasoned, I will publish it.
  • If your comment slams this blog, or the author — but you have the guts to identify yourself (state your name and email address, at minimum), I will publish it.
  • If your comment is a drive-by turd-dropping that does little else than vent your spleen — and you don’t have the cajones to tell us who you are — you can go fuck yourself.

There, I hope that is simple enough for everyone to understand. I really like to get your comments, and would really prefer to publish them — even if you don’t agree with me. But, this is my soapbox. If you want to post garbage, and post it anonymously, you already have a place to do that.

Part 10 of a Series

The next installment concerning the abuse of the secret PSEN blacklists is going to take a bit more time. I have voluminous amounts of background material to sift through — and sift through I must, as there is far too much of it to present here in its entirety. So, in order to tide you over until that work is done, I thought it would be a good time to address the question, “Who are these people?”

Not long ago, PSEN founder and moderator Alyssa Delora claimed membership of “200+ members“. By my count, there are actually 184. However, only 94 of those have been active at all in 2007, and some surprisingly big names are members but haven’t visited in the last 90 days or so. So, we have a little less than a hundred providers (not all in Seattle, mind you) who aid, abet and support the organized blackmail and terror tactics that go on in the private girls’ room.

It would be ludicrous and unfair to suggest that all 100 of the active members are worthy of the same level of contempt, though. Most — maybe even all — of these providers joined because they are concerned about safety or because they are genuinely interested in community fellowship. It has been my observation over the last couple of months that only a small handful are truly part of the inner circle.

It is easy to identify those who ought to be pointed out. They are the ones who complained the loudest, and fought the hardest, even as the faulty and dishonest practices of their leadership were being exposed. Here they are:

AddisonJames
amyofseattle
AlexMonet
bufffy
CindySeattle
DaynaPhoenix
DevieAkaSola
GlowieLove
Maya_Seattle
NW Kristi (NWKristi)
LoveLee7759
ReignSeattle
seattlesiren
SinfulSadi13

This is the core group of bad actors. These ‘ladies’ think it is OK to ‘out’ you among themselves, and share your personal information freely with all “200+ members” of their group.

They think it’s A-OK to brand you as a rapist and circulate your name, home address and phone number along with that accusation.

They think it’s A-OK to encourage their peers to stiff you if you write a bad review.

Every woman on this list will sneer at the mere suggestion that anyone in their little club might be lying or may have made a mistake. In their world, the female is always right… no matter what.

And they get downright nasty if anyone challenges them on this stuff. Now why do you suppose that is?

NOTE TO COMMENTERS: Due to the controversial nature of this material, and also due to the absence of accountability that providers have enjoyed (up until now) while engaged in the creation of this material, I will NOT approve anonymous comments that are negative in character. If you have something nasty to say, fine… get in line. But be prepared to put your name, email and/or website address along with your words.

Seattle’s KIRO-TV reports that Paradise Tanning in Everett was taken down today. This is unusual, to my mind, because AMP busts go down all the time but the stories are normally the province of the daily newspapers, and usually buried deep in the local news section, at that.

So, why would one of the local network affiliates spend scarce news minutes on this? Slow news day, perhaps? Mmm, perhaps… but I see something else. It’s the novelty. This wasn’t a massage parlor, it was a tanning salon. That’s not your usual front for a brothel. To top it off, lots and lots of people — including Joe Sixpack’s school-aged daughters — go to tanning salons. It gives the story a certain shock value that your garden-variety AMP is lacking.

Meanwhile, this was also big news at TNAR. It would seem that a number of TNAR pooners have been to Paradise Tanning — a quick search revealed no fewer than nine reviews of Paradise providers submitted in the last six months. No fewer than five of those reviews mention the name ‘Paradise’ or ‘Paradise Tanning’ in the subject line, and one subject line even says ‘on Evergreen‘.

Say, how do you suppose that LE found out about this place, anyway?

outing vs. Outing

February 2, 2007

There’s been lots of buzz lately about the ‘outing’ of people (gee, I can’t imagine how that got started), and now there is discussion of how this supposed transgression should be dealt with, either by the ‘community’ at large or by the aggrieved individuals in particular. I find it rather amusing, on one level, because most of the noise being made centers around the notion that someone has improperly appointed themselves as the ‘hobby police’ — and of course those hollering the loudest are, in fact and deed, none other than the de facto, self-appointed hobby police.

But what is even more amusing — or disappointing… or infuriating… depending on your point of view — is that those doing the whining are unable or unwilling to differentiate between the outing of a hobby identity and the outing of a real life person. This is disingenuous, at best. These are, ostensibly, bright and articulate people we are talking about, and the intentional blurring of this distinction has gone beyond mere willful ignorance and has now reached the point of a dishonest attempt to manipulate the opinions of uninvolved bystanders. Short version: she’s lying to you, folks. Don’t be fooled.

Let’s define that distinction that I just made, so that even the sheep-men who make up the most vocal portion of the message board membership can understand. When I say ‘outing a hobby identity’, I mean that someone has been identified as being a particular online persona. That’s as far as it goes — someone is fingered by their TNAR or TRB handle and/or by an email address. Nobody’s “life is ruined” by this, unless of course they have been colossally stupid about what information they have made publicly available that can be associated with that persona. What can be ruined is an online reputation, which is not nearly as valuable — and not nearly so hard to rebuild — as a person’s real life reputation. Outing a hobby identity is, quite frankly, little more than a nuisance.

Unless you are a provider, that is. Because a provider’s online identity represents her means of doing business, having a provider’s online persona exposed as a wrongdoer is somewhat more than just a nuisance. And rightfully so. Providers routinely capture far, FAR more personal information than hobbyists — about their clients and about other providers — and the misuse of that information can have devastating results, both to the real lives of hobbyists and to the businesses of competing providers. So it follows that a provider should guard her reputation more carefully, because people don’t appreciate having their real life personal information abused.

Thus, it’s easy to see the reason for the curtain of secrecy surrounding the ladies’ back channel, along with the outrage at having that curtain lifted to expose the ladies’ malfeasance. And, thus also the cynical attempts to style themselves as the injured parties. I’m not buying it, and you shouldn’t either.

In the news…

February 2, 2007

There’s an explosion of news related to prostitution this week, largely fueled by inconsequential Craigslist stings and the suicide death of a high-profile suspect just before trial (see previous post, below). Sifting through it all, I have uncovered these two items worthy of note:

In upstate New York’s Hudson valley, a political squabble has erupted between the mayor of Kingston, NY and the local D.A.’s office. It seems that Hizzoner the Mayor is displeased that arrestees without a prior criminal record are being allowed to plead down their charges. In the process of throwing his tantrum, he inadvertently hits the nail on the head.

Sottile said the police department takes pains to set up prostitution stings. “We use all these resources and have a successful sting and then watch these people walk away with a slap on the wrist,” he said.

Yep, there ya go. It’s all a huge waste of time and money. Evidently, the Kingston P.D. has no other criminals to pursue. Time to lay off some excess officers, perhaps?

Meanwhile, in South Carolina, a crooked cop has kissed his law enforcement career goodbye in the wake of prostitution charges filed against him. Allegedly, Officer James Kirkley of the Horry County Police has been caught hobbying while on duty, according to charging information provided by a state-level investigating agency.

Officer Kirkley, a 15-year veteran who is married, faces the additional charge of ‘Misconduct in Office’.

Perhaps the big surprise in this case is the revelation that he actually paid for services.

Brandy Britton is dead.

Britton, formerly a professor of anthropology at the University of Maryland, was the founder of the Institute for Women and Girls Health Research, and up until last year, also a part-time prostitute. She was arrested in a police sting at her home last year (that’s right, a sting at a private incall) and charge with four counts of prostitution. Her trial was to have been next week.

She committed suicide this last Saturday.

She was harming no one; bothering no one. She worked at home. Police came into her home and arrested her for the hideous crime of selling what is perfectly legal to give away for free. As a result, her home went into foreclosure and she was to be evicted today.

Her attorney issued a statement that speaks truth to power:

“Brandy was and always will be a good, kind and generous soul who will be dearly missed by her friends and family, but her death underscores an important question: Was the public benefited at all by the resources spent on her arrest and prosecution? As we ponder the apparent senselessness of her passing, we must openly wonder about the purpose, necessity and utility of a criminal justice system that seeks to punish a person rather than to heal them.”

And the prosecutor’s response? Merely a shoulder-shrug:

“On a first-time offense, I doubt if she would have served any time,” said Wayne Kirwan, a spokesman for the Howard County State’s Attorney’s office.

Bastards, all of them.

Momma Said

February 1, 2007

The story from Lexington, SC is disgusting. A drug addicted mother of three teenage daughters is in custody — charged with child neglect and promoting the prostitution of a minor. Authorities allege that she had repeatedly forced two of her daughters into prostitution to support her own crack cocaine habit. Three men, all friends of the mother, are also in custody and being charged with related offenses.

The media has uncovered an outrageous coda: It was all preventable. Officials from the South Carolina Department of Social Services had tracked problems within the household — including child molestation and drug offenses — since 2000. Three years ago, the oldest of the girls was removed from the mother’s custody. Inexplicably, the two younger girls were left behind.

And yet, there is a punchline. I see dark humor here… levity rendered through the combination of poor wording and over-the-top political correctness:

“These children, they’ve been taught, if you want anything, sex is the way to get it,” said Metts.

As if that attitude would be a rare trait in an American female.

From the “Found en route to looking for other things” department: A different way to run a Bad Client List. How ’bout right out in the freakin’ open?

That’s right. No super-secret clubs. No oath of fealty to the list-keeper. No hand-wringing because “Oh my God! They will fucking kill us all if they see this!”

And — no surprise, this, given that it’s right out in the open — no sketchy bullshit, either.

But of course, since the person who runs this list doesn’t want to use it to fuck people over, there is no need for secrecy.

I’ve finally figured it out: Tek works for the government. Only a government worker would spent 30 hours on a 30 minute job, and then congratulate himself for not making any mistakes.

Look Inside Yourself

“I’m a hooker: Should I tell my boyfriend?”

(hat tip: The Courtesan Connection)

My first reaction on reading this was, “Wow, what an incredibly dishonest, self-centered cunt!” Think about it… here’s a woman in a committed relationship, leading a double life in epic fashion — and some poor slob out there thinks she is all his. She let’s him think that… she’s probably told him that… and she has the gall — the unmitigated gall — to ask ’should I tell him that I’m a prostitute?’, as if she is wondering how to handle things when she just noticed that her prom date’s fly is open.

This woman shouldn’t be wondering if she should tell her boyfriend; she should be asking herself why the fuck she even has a boyfriend. She should be questioning if she deserves a boyfriend. Can you imagine having this bomb dropped on you by someone who supposedly, for all you know, loves you? But our letter writer is worried only about herself. Only a sociopath would let such a situation develop with a significant other.

And then it hit me. I thought about all of the married guys out there who keep women like this in business.

If you go to the link and read the advice columnist’s reply, you will see the theories about the writer’s unresolved issues and one particularly good-sounding theory about her upbringing. It rings true with me, because it squares nicely with the family background of more than one hooker that I have gotten to know particularly well.

But, in my mind, I keep coming back to the clients. The married clients. What of them? And is there any way to get to the bottom of dishonesty and denial that deep?
